<p>We are working towards social change through economic progress by educating the youth of the rural area. We are creating awareness in the minds of the community about the Sivanthi community radio for creating dedicated personnel and bringing about social awareness and economic progress by the continued efforts and single minded devotion and dedication of these personnel.</p>

<p>B.Sivanthi Aditanar is an educationist, philanthropist,connoisseur of arts and literature, patron of sports, business tycoon,and newspaper baron who is the chairman of the &ldquo;Daily Thanthi&rdquo;, which is the paper with the largest circulation in Tamil Nadu. WhenSivanthi Aditanar wanted to bring about a social change in hisnative place, Tiruchendur, his friend R.Sreedher suggested that a community radio station can be started inTiruchendur, which resulted in the opening of Sivanthi CommunityRadio in Aditanar College of Arts and Science, Tiruchendur on 14thSeptember 2007.</p>

Sivanthi Community Radio @90.4 MHz broadcasts for 7 hours and 30 minutes daily from 6:00 am – 9:00 am and 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm.

Languages of Broadcast: Tamil and occasionally English.

Valanthuparpom Varungal Speech A programme for motivating the youth and engages them in a motivational mood.
Santhippu Interview Meeting with community people and a leading personalities, it is a very popular programme.
Thinam oru Thirukkural Speech and songs Discourse about the famous Tirukkural.
Valampurinatham Discussions, Drama, Tit bits and Speech Programmes focus on welfare and development of fishermen.
Manvasanai Folk Songs Utilising the talents of local community artists to address the issues of livelihoods etc through folk songs. This also is a way to archive the local culture and knowledge of the local community

<p>Signature Programmes: Our signature programme is Santhippu, an intensive interview programme with the community members and leading personalities. This is very popular amongst our listeners. We also communicate with and motivate the listeners through this programme. Community Participation: Programme committee members, community members, college and school students and academicians. Innovations in Format: Mixed formats (interview, drama, folk songs and stand-up comedy).</p>

<p>Funding and Partnerships Aditanar Eductional Institutions Management funded the entire Sivanthi Community Radio station establishment. The management is presently spending Rs 45,000-Rs.50,000 per month.</p>

<p>There is a fisherman village called Virapandianpatnam where people used to take more fish in their daily diet. It is in the reach area of our community radio. They found that some of the listeners have skin diseases and anaemic problems. We conducted a health and hygienic camp by a famous doctor. She advised them to take more fruits and vegetables in their daily food. Especially the doctor advised them to take more leafy vegetables for eradicating the anaemic problems. Most of the community members followed the advice of the doctors and they got cured and became healthy. People in general have been positively influenced by the programmes of Sivanthi CR either directly or indirectly.</p>
