Alfaz-e-Mewat

<p style="text-align: justify;">Alfaz-e-Mewat endeavours to bridge the information gap for the rural communities by providing them witha platform to share,create awareness and disseminate informationon agriculture,water and soil health.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The radio will strive to be an effective tool for enabling good rural governance and be a source of edutainment.The radio aims to provide voice to the farming communities, promote education, health and sanitation, and preserve and promote Mewati culture and language</p>

<p>Mewat draws its inspiration from IRRAD&rsquo;s experience of working in Mewat area, a backward minority district in Haryana, for the past 12 years despite being in proximity to the national capital.</p>

Tohfa-e-Kudrat: Jal, Jangal, Jameen (A daily program that talks about the gifts that nature has bestowed upon us i.e. Water, Forests and Soil. The program specially caters to the farming community)

Guftgu (A daily program that interviews experts and individuals from varied walks of life who share their experiences and achievements)

Hamse Hai Shasan (A program that talks about various governance issues affecting the people and promotes citizen participation for good rural governance)

Radio School (Tutoring program for school kids on subjects of Science, Maths and Englsih)

Galli Galli Sim Sim (An educational radio program catering to children from ages 3-8 years)

Waqt Hamara Hai (A program by and for the school going children)

Hello Farmaaish (Phone in program)

Kisse Kahani (A program featuring old folklores from Mewat)

Sufi Safar (A program looking at the rich sufi history and music)

 

Signature Programme: Tohfa-e-Kudrat:Jal Jangal Zameen, Kisse Kahani. Community Participation: Our radio station banks on the people in the community for its all round progress.

The station has been set up under the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA)scheme, of the Ministry of Agriculture. ATMA scheme covers the set up cost of stat ion and three years of programme funding.The promoting organisational so supported the project financially.Apart from ATMA, the station also enjoys financial support from a corporate funder, Sesame Workshop India Trust. It also earns revenue from Directorate of Audio Visual Publicity in addition to some local advertisements.

<p style="text-align: justify;">Getting women to participate in the programmes has been a challenging task. The other challenges include retention of volunteers, finding resources for on-going training of staff and generating funds.</p>
