India is a country where social disadvantage outweighs natural biological advantage of being a girl. A whole range of discriminatory practices including female foeticide, female infanticide, female genital mutilation, son idolization, early marriage and dowry have buried the future of the nation. This episode highlights the plight of the girl child in India and urges the Government to Educate girls as its high priority. Ms. Jaya Singh (CRY) and Mr. Lov Verma (NCPCR) gave their view on the same. 

The UN Millennium Summit of 2000, aimed at slashing poverty, hunger, disease, maternal and child deaths and other ills by 2015. With only five years left to achieve these goals, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon had called on world leaders to attend a summit in New York on 20-22 September to accelerate its progress in meeting these goals. This episode basically focuses on Make Noise for the MDGs and thereby reminding the government that they should keep their promises and do something to achieve its goals. The finance minister’s Budget speech proposed a radical change in subsidies: instead of trying (and failing) to provide subsidized goods to the needy, the government would provide cash transfers. This would cut wastage and leakages in subsidies. This episode speaks in favour of PDS because it would provide direct support to people who are poor. Cash Transfer would not benefit the poor in the long run. In support of this Anjali Bhardwaj from Satark Nagrik Sangathan gave her view on the same.

This episode speaks on MDG-7 (ensure environmental sustainability). The Millennium Goals recognize that environmental sustainability is a part of global economic and social well-being. It is expected that by 2020, dependence on natural resources like water, soil and forest will reach its peak affecting the poor and the marginalized the most. However, a little political will in favour of environmental well-being can make a difference. Dr. Indira Khurana from Water Aid and Dr. Rahesh Jalan, an expert on Environmental Issues gave their thoughts on the same.

This episode basically speaks on MDG-6 (Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other diseases). There is a need for more political will and public participation to combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other diseases. The government should equip existing PHCs and CHCs with trained personnel to address this menace. Ms. Anjali Gopalan (NAZ Foundation) and Mr. Amit Sengupta (JSA) shared their views on the same and highlighted that trained local health care givers to raise the effectiveness of service delivery in addressing these issues.

Few experts points out the grey areas in not looking at legitimate education for the excluded and socially disadvantaged groups of the society.
