Khasi is primarily spoken by the natives of Khasi Hills in Meghalaya. It is also spoken in some parts of Assam and Bangladesh. Khasi doesn’t have its own script and is written in Latin. A lot of Khasi literature is also written in Assamese. According to the Indian census of 2001, there are more than 8, 65, 000 speakers of this language in Meghalaya. Khasi is quite rich in folktales and folklores.
