Communication Officer at Population Services International
Application closes on 31 December, 2011. Population Services International (PSI) is looking for Communication Officer to implement its ambitious project on HIV/AIDS and various aspects of health.

Context

Population Services International is a registered Indian Society dedicated to the improvement of public health in India. PSI India’s mission is to empower the people of India to lead healthy lives. Over the past twenty years, PSI has collaborated with the GoI and a number of donors to increase the use of modern contraception for family planning, to provide products and services for the health of mothers and children and to decrease the spread of HIV/AIDS.

PSI harnesses the vitality of the private sector to address health problems of the low-income and vulnerable populations using social marketing to achieve positive behaviour change by promoting ideas, products and services conducive to better health.

PSI promotes and distributes 11 health products, using commercial channels and outlets to make available quality health products at affordable prices.

The basket of products includes condoms, oral contraceptives, ORS, water purification solutions; IFA tablets; clean delivery kits and pre-packaged STI treatment kit. To implement this ambitious plan, PSI is looking for Communication Officer.

Position Purpose

To execute and monitor ground level communication activity.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Overall rollout of the on ground communication activities.
  • Monitoring and provide handholding support to the communication staff at the field level
  • Monitoring and supervision of the media agencies hired to execute communication activities
  • Documentation of the communication activities and presenting to various stakeholders
  • Coordination between the sales, program and communication team to meet the over all project target
  • Coordination with TSG, NACO, DSACS and monthly briefing on communication interventions
  • Coordination, regular meeting and briefing with TI NGOs
  • Suggest, conceptualize and develop communication tools based on field experience and requirement.
  • Monitoring of placement of POPs and other communication materials at the traditional/non-traditional outlets and ensure visibility of condom products.
  • Accompany and facilitate donor visits to the field for monitoring and supervision.
  • Person has to spend 100% time in field

Qualification

  • Graduate, Degree in Communication/MSW will be an added advantage
  • Computer literate and should have work knowledge of MS Office, Excel
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience of working in NGO sector, BTL agency, communication agency
